what can make my 25hp evinrude motor jump out of gear at higher rpm?

motor races when i try to open it up. it races like its in neutral and when i let off on the throttle it goes back in gear.

   Could be the gears/clutch etc. are wearing out.

   It could be the prop loose,or the haft moon key broke,to check,take prop off. It could also be in the lower unit,on the pione gear, the gear is held on the shaft with a pin, it may be broke. check prop first

   The motor in neutral forward if it does not correct this you move to adjust that you can tighten the lever in neutral forward or will require replacement of two things will have to put it does not repeat.
   The lever in neutral forward if it does not repeat your problem you can tighten the lever should be two things will have to excessive wear would be surprised.
