The Purpose of Number Plates
A number plate represents a registration identifier formed by numbers or/and letters. The purpose of these number plates is to officially get your vehicle recognized. Different countries have different laws concerning the number plates. For example while in Australia they last a lifetime and require to be changed only if they are unreadable in US the law says you have to periodically change and renew your plates. Another example is India, where there are two types of number plates: for commercial vehicles and for private ones. Some countries allow what they call “vanity plates”, meaning that if the owner of a vehicle pays extra he can choose a custom number, as long as it’s unique.
